✳ THE PROJECT · FROM IGUALADA
A second life
for a balloon.
A balloon stops flying. Its fabric can still open up a world.

The journey
continues on the ground.
Wind Igloo transforms hot-air balloon fabric that can no longer fly into inflatable spaces for cultural, artistic and community activities. The material retains the colours, seams and marks of its former journey. Its new life does not erase that history; it brings it into a new place and use.
Once inflated, the interior changes the light, the scale and the way people gather. Music, theatre, poetry, learning or conversation: each collaboration finds its own content.
A first prototype,
developed together.
In 2011, Jordi Enrich developed a first Wind Igloo prototype with Igualada’s Escola Municipal d’Art Gaspar Camps, Ultramagic and design studio Espai Gràfic. The temporary structure was made from the envelope of a hot-air balloon that could no longer fly.
Ultramagic’s collaboration is part of the project’s beginnings and Iglú de Vent’s connection to Igualada’s ballooning culture. Available sources describe the reused material as fabric from decommissioned hot-air balloons, without identifying the maker of each envelope.

15+ YEARS · FROM IGUALADA TO THE WORLD
An open
practice.
Festivals, companies, artists, schools and institutions can activate the space in different ways. Wind Igloo brings an architecture and a way of thinking about it; each project is shaped with the people who inhabit it.
